The Science & Technology Cell was created under Planning Department in 1986. In course of time,the activities of Science & Technology was expanded to make effective inputs in various areas of development of the State. On August 17th 2011, the Cabinet created a separate Directorate of Science & Technology vide letter No.A.11019/2/2009-PLG Dated 30/08/2011
There are three Organisations under Directorate of Science & Technology viz., Mizoram Science, Technology & Innovation Council(MISTIC), Mizoram State Remote Sensing Application Centre (MIRSAC) and Mizoram Science Centre.
